The appropriate spade for every soil

LOOSE / EARTHY SOIL

FIRM / EARTHY SOIL

If you have to work with firmer grounds it is better to use a spade of the type "Bremer" or "Flensburger". As the blade is slightly rounded it gets in the gorund easier so that you need less effort.

STONY / SANDY SOIL

The sharped blade of the spades "Geestemünder" and "Kieler" are perfect for stony and sandy soils. Caused by the shape you can easily thrust stones aside and the work gets much more easier.

HEAVY / CLAYEY SOIL

The spade type "Spieker" has a sharpened run as well but is narrower than the type "Geestemünder". As a result you can cut out heavy and cleayey soil with relatively little effort. For this purpose you can also use the spades type "Vierländer" and "Marsch-spade", these are not that sharpened but rounded.
