Intended use of the forks

It is impossible to imagine agriculture without forks as a working tool. They are used for loading or spreading straw and hay – they transport manure or dung or are useful helpers during field and harvest work.

But forks are also extremely useful tools in the flowerbed or vegetable garden. Here they are used for spreading compost or for collecting branch or shrub cuttings. There are also special forks for soil cultivation, with which the soil is loosened or dug up in a way that is gentle on the roots.

Forks can be divided into two areas of application:

Lifting and moving material

Light forks that do not have to carry so much weight, and therefore favor a swinging and effortless activity.

2-tine hay forks
for loading or lifting hay and straw bales

3-tine hay forks
for lifting, turning and spreading straw, hay and grass

Spreading fork
for spreading litter in the stables

Manure forks
for spreading manure,
for transporting branch and landscape waste

Slightly heavier forks that can carry a heavier weight. A different material thickness, a higher number of tines or a more stable handle attachment increase the dead weight but also make this tool more stable.

Manure forks
for mucking out in the stable and spreading manure on garden beds and fields

Compost forks
for loosening, shifting and spreading compost

Potato and beet forks
Knobs at the ends of the tines protect roots and tubers during harvesting

Stone forks
perfect tine spacing for carrying gravel stones

The tines, which are bent at a 90° angle at the upper end, are rammed into the ground and pulled towards the user. The soil is thereby deeply loosened and aerated. Also used for spreading compost and manure or for collecting branch or shrub cuttings.

Small garden hoe
is very small and perferct for the home gardening

Cultivators
are small and light, perfect for the flower bed or a small vegetable garden

Dung fork
are large and strong, perfect for working in the field or in the kitchen garden, very pactical when harvesting potatoes

Flat and pointed tines penetrate very easily into hard and stony soil and push between existing roots. The soil is deeply loosened and dug up without damaging the plants' roots.

Spading fork
perfect for gently digging out shrubs or bushes

Rose forks
especially advantageous in densely planted garden beds - optimal for aerating or transplanting roses
