Types of Mattocks and Hoes

A hoe is primarily used for preparing and cultivating soil. Whether for planting preparations of beds and fields, for loosening very compact and stony soils or for removing roots during field clearing work.

The shape and size of the hoe blade depends on the soil conditions, the intended use and the size of the area that needs to be cultivated. Over the course of time, many different blade shapes have developed - primarily as an adaptation to regional soil conditions.
